2009 Senior Districts at Wintergreen Resort
The 2009 Senior District Tournament was a great success. The three day championship was held at Wintergreen Resort near Charlottesville in Wintergreen, VA from Friday, August 21- Sunday, August 23 2009, with the Captains' Meeting on Thursday, 20th.
Wintergreen's Devil's Knob Tennis Complex boasts 12 outdoor clay courts, as well as 3 indoor "deco-turf" courts. Tournament play was held on the outdoor courts. Wintergreen is a great venue for outdoor tournaments, with temperatures in the 70's throughout the afternoon and an attentive resort staff on hand. We did experience a rain-out for Saturday's matches, but with the help of Farmington Country Club not too far away, the Sunday matches stayed on schedule and there was no need to continue into Monday. Continuing the tournament smoothly with Saturday's rain out was made possible by the efficient resort staff, USTA Officials on hand for the event, USTA/VA tournament staff and, of course, many of the teams competing.
We want to congratulate and thank all the teams who made it to Sr. Districts this year. Best of luck to those continuing on to Sectionals and Nationals and we appreciate your help in making this a great tournament!

The 4.0 Roanoke Sr. Men's team- Capt. Lowell Hill, Non-playing Capt. Tim Nester, Bill Haynie, Alan Bartley, Tracy Sledd, Randy Dickey, David McCray, John Bernard, Skip Hamilton, Earl Dodson & William Nicholas (not all pictured) went on to Sectionals at Huntington Park in Newport News, VA and then on to Sr. Nationals in Indian Wells, CA!
